How sustainability is led and embedded across Univar Solutions

At Univar Solutions, sustainability is governed from the top of the organization and embedded through leadership, operations, commercial activity and culture. Our approach connects Board oversight with executive accountability and cross-functional delivery so that sustainability remains integrated into how we manage risk, drive performance, support customers and create long-term value.

From the Board’s Sustainability Committee to Univar Solutions Executive Committee, through Corporate, Operational and Commercial sustainability leadership, to employee engagement and site-level action, our structure is designed to turn ambition into measurable progress.

Our organizational structure

To ensure we are tracking ESG progress, delivering on our strategic goals, and making meaningful contributions, Univar Solutions’ governance groups include the Board of Directors’ Governance and Corporate Responsibility (GCR) Committee, our Executive Committee, our Global Sustainability Council, and our Regional Sustainability Working Groups. Together, our committees are driving the change necessary to be a sustainable leader in chemical and ingredient distribution.

Board sustainability committee

At the highest level, sustainability oversight sits with the Board’s sustainability committee, which provides governance over the company’s sustainability strategy, priorities and related risks and opportunities. This includes oversight of the policies, ambitions and performance measures that support our broader sustainability agenda.

The committee reviews progress against our sustainability goals, considers emerging environmental, social and governance developments, and helps ensure that material sustainability matters are incorporated into enterprise risk management and long-term business planning. This oversight helps maintain accountability from the top of the organization.

Board of Directors’ Governance and Corporate Responsibility (GCR) Committee

At the highest level, the Board maintains oversight of the company’s strategy and its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) processes and programs, which include ESG and climate risks. Corresponding risk mitigation plans are presented to the Board semi-annually.

The GCR Committee meets quarterly to oversee progress and advance our strategies toward achieving our global ESG goals, including the actions, risks and opportunities associated with climate change. This committee reviews and monitors all policies and activities that support Univar Solutions’ broader ESG strategy.

Executive Committee

Univar Solutions’ Executive Committee translates Board oversight into enterprise action. Executive leaders provide sponsorship, direction and accountability for sustainability across the business, helping align priorities with strategy, capital allocation, operational performance, talent and culture.

Corporate, Operational and Commercial Sustainability Leadership

Our sustainability leadership model combines corporate expertise with operational and commercial ownership. At corporate level, sustainability leadership helps shape strategy, goals, disclosures, governance and cross-functional alignment. Across operations, leaders and teams integrate sustainability into site performance, resource use, emissions reduction, safety, release prevention and continuous improvement. Across the commercial organization, sustainability capabilities support customer solutions, supplier engagement and the growth of products and services that enable more sustainable outcomes.

Embedding sustainability in our culture

Embedding sustainability in our culture requires more than governance and leadership. It depends on employees across Univar Solutions understanding their role in supporting safer operations, responsible decision-making, ethical conduct, community impact and customer value. Through leadership expectations, functional processes, local engagement, employee networks, training and collaboration, we work to make sustainability part of how we think, act and deliver every day.
